About the European Island Farm Landscapes Network – a response to the Convention on Biological Diversity in Europe and the Global Island Partnership

The network seeks to assess how new agri-environment programmes will affect island farming and associated wildlife rich farmed landscapes and what can be done to promote the viability of these wildlife rich landscapes into the future.

The European Island Farm Landscapes network is a partnership sharing experience between island farming communities and environmental organisations across Europe. It aims to explore how farmers, crofters and rural landowners use new European Union Agri-environment schemes to maintain their small and micro-businesses, supporting landscape and wildlife through sustainable land use, as well as to explore alternative viable or sustainable forms of farm diversification favouring landscapes. The network is responding to the Convention on Biological Diversity notably the Global Island Partnership.
